INFO:
Day 2 in Morocco and we’re in love with everything we’ve eaten. We’ve heard that the best Moroccan food is eaten in someone’s home, but since we can’t do that just yet, we’ll go for the second best: a food tour! Food tours are great because they’re sort of a 2-in-1 approach. You get to learn about the city you’re in AND eat?! What could be better. The tour we did today was an all-day tour. We stopped at many different spots and left soooo full. Here’s what we tried: 🍯 Stop 1 was at a lecheria where we tried bread with goat cheese and honey, a flat doughy bread with almond butter (so good!) and mint tea. Everything was 10u002F10 🫛 pea soup was next! We never would have come across this spot without our guide. It was down a side street and a bit incognito, but it was filled with welcoming people and delicious pea soup! 🥤Royal smoothies have 5 or 6 different smoothie types mixed together. Avocado smoothie, raspberry smoothie, nut butter, and more. Every sip was slightly different than the last, like a mini surprise every time. Don’t even get me started on the pomegranate juice here! 🐟Tangier is on the coast, so of course we had to try fish tajine while we are here. It has such a rich flavor but a lot of fresh elements too. 👨‍🍳 Caliente is the Spanish word for hot and this dish speaks to the international influence that exists in Morocco, specifically Tangier as a port city. I didn’t love the texture of this one but I do love it’s significance :) 🥮 our medley of desserts was to die for! Dates and nuts, plus a few pastries. We’ll definitely get our fill of sweet stuff in Morocco
